These measures had a significant impact on economic and social life.

A total of  2.8 million  people  were unemployed  at the end of May 2020.  The  corona crisis is hitting  the German labor market hard  . Stable industries have been struggling over the past three months. As a result, the number of  unemployed people  has increased sharply in Germany since the beginning of the corona crisis.

The negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the German economy are becoming increasingly evident and widespread. The world’s leading international fairs, important events and business trips have all been postponed or canceled in 2020/2021.

The labor market has shrunk as workers are forced to go into mandatory quarantine or self-isolate at home. More than 50% of German companies reported a decline in their revenue in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to many surveys, many manufacturers in Germany have also suffered major negative impacts due to the continued disruption of production activities.

Industries affected by Covid – 19

Restaurant-Hotel Industry

According to DIW calculations, the restaurant and hotel industry is the hardest hit, with losses of around 5.8 billion euros. On top of that,  auxiliary workers  such as waiters are becoming unemployed in a particularly difficult period .

Restaurants have been forced to close repeatedly during the pandemic. They have to pay for both the premises and their employees. However, they have received some government support and are now allowed to open for take-out. This will help them and the government to reduce the economic deficit.

Cultural Economy

The sports, culture and leisure sectors will see a fall of €2.1 billion and the retail sector around €1.3 billion, while German industry will see a loss of €5.2 billion. The rest of the losses will be felt by business service providers, logistics companies and cinema operators. In the cultural sector,  unemployment  has risen by more than  60%  , more than any other occupational group.

Beauty Industry

Closed then opened, opened then closed again, countless nail salons have been left half dead due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although they are still receiving support from the government, due to the nature of their work requiring contact, the longer the pandemic continues, the longer this industry will be closed.

Paying for the premises every month is a given, and if you want to keep your employees, the shop owner still has to cover some of their expenses. Not to mention, nail salons in big, large cities will have to pay a lot of money. Many people have had to sell their very livelihoods to continue fighting the pandemic.

Nursing – Doctor

Hospitals have become high-risk places for COVID-19 infection, so Germans have reduced their use of essential health care services, which has led to many different consequences. But one issue that worries hospital managers is the decrease in hospital operating capacity, which has a significant impact on the development of the hospital. Especially taking care of the staff when the hospital has to be self-sufficient.

However, the recruitment of more caregivers in Germany is still very strong. We can still fly regularly, study and work normally.

In short, because the Covid-19 epidemic cannot be completely controlled, although the vaccination is being carried out on a large scale, some industries still cannot sit still. The impact of the epidemic is very large, so we need to join hands to fight the epidemic, follow the measures that have been put in place.
